Oops.

A quick correction to yesterday's post.  This is a clipping from The Sunbury Daily from October 1912 featuring a write-up of Laura E. (Burgit) Carroll's 43rd birthday celebration.

[Yes, I know this clipping is hard to read, even when clicked upon. This is one of the problems I encountered over the weekend that caused me to stomp around and say really bad words. I want to make a list on the sidebar with pdf files of all these clippings and written documents. PDF files can be easily opened from almost any computer and even better, the Zoom-in feature is easy to manipulate. I know how to convert files to pdf, but can't figure out how to link a list of them on to the sidebar (not to a blog post). If anyone can shed any light on this mystery, please rescue me.]

Anyway, since most all the attendees listed in the clipping are the same crew pictured below, this gathering must have taken place in October 1912, not 1915 as first thought.  That changes a few things.  For instance, the baby in the back row is likely the Lugar son Carroll (or Carl) born in 1911, not Laura Lugar born in 1915.  The lady seated on Grandpa Burgit's right (dark dress, white hair, slightly scarey-looking), can't be his wife Harriet Emily Hullihen Burgit because she died in 1900.  At the moment, we're not sure who slightly scarey lady is.

So, as soon as I can figure out how to post a document, we'll be putting up a printed record with names, dates and family timelines.

In the meantime, let us remember what's important here.  Let us keep to the true spirit of the Alcott family, what it is that sets us apart and makes us so strong.  Let us all sit around and have a giggle over the pictures of Cousin George playing with dolls

And wearing girl underwear.

Love you Cuz!  --cds
